High-tech fabrics protecting agriculture: Modern agrotextiles from greenhouses to silage

In modern agriculture, high and stable crop yields and the healthy development of animal husbandry rely on the support of technology. A special type of fabric plays a crucial role. 1. Crop Protection

2. Agriculture greenhouse
Fabric: Polyethylene (PE) film: The most common and economical choice, especially multifunctional PO film (polyolefin, a high-grade PE film).

Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene copolymer (ETFE) film: A high-end material, though expensive, but with exceptional performance, its light transmittance, durability, and self-cleaning properties far surpass those of PE film.

Polycarbonate (PC) sheet: A mid-to-high-end greenhouse material, typically a hollow multi-layer sheet with excellent thermal insulation and impact resistance (hail protection).

Application: As the core of modern facility agriculture, greenhouse covering materials are a typical example of agricultural textiles, directly determining the greenhouse's lighting, thermal insulation, and humidity performance.

Application scenarios:

Covering materials: Modern greenhouses are no longer limited to traditional glass and ordinary plastic film. Multifunctional PO film, ETFE film, and double-layer inflatable covering materials are widely used. They form the "skin" of the greenhouse and serve as the first line of protection for growing crops. Greenhouse: Multifunctional PO film, ETFE film, and polycarbonate (PC) panels. High light transmittance ensures efficient crop photosynthesis.

Insulation: Contains a heat-insulating agent to reduce heat loss at night.

Anti-drip and anti-fog: Prevents condensation from dripping and burning crops or causing disease.

Long-lasting and weather-resistant: Anti-aging, anti-static, and dust-resistant, maintaining consistently high light transmittance.

3. Silage cover

Material: Polyethylene (PE) stretch film: This is the predominant material for round silage bales. Typically available in black, white, or green, it exhibits excellent stretchability and resilience.

Polyethylene (PE) co-extruded film silage bags: Used for bagged silage, these bags are made from a multi-layer PE composite, offering high strength and excellent oxygen barrier properties.

Application: Silage is a key technology for preserving the nutrients of green fodder and ensuring a balanced year-round feed supply for livestock. Sealing is crucial for success in this process.

Applications:

Silage film/cloth: Used to wrap silage (such as corn stalks and pasture grass), creating an anaerobic environment to promote lactic acid fermentation and prevent mold and nutrient loss. Common forms include:

Silage wrap: Used for round silage bales.

Silage bags: Large plastic bags used to store large quantities of silage.

Silage sheet/cover: Covers the top of silage stored in a silo, with the edges pressed tightly with a weight to create a seal. Silage: High-strength polyethylene (PE) stretch film and co-extruded film. High tensile strength: Resists tearing during wrapping.

Excellent sealing and adhesion: Layers adhere tightly, effectively isolating the film from air.

Puncture resistance: Prevents sharp objects like straw from puncturing the film.

Weather resistance: Withstands sun and rain, ensuring stability throughout the fermentation process.
