GSM describes total mass, not the complete engineering specification. Two fabrics at the same nominal GSM can use different polyester yarn, weave density, PVC-to-fabric ratio, surface lacquer, functional additives, width tolerances and production methods. Finished tarps may also use different reinforcement and hardware. Ask for the PVC coated polyester fabric construction, not GSM alone.
